Your care pathway

A clear pathway from first enquiry to lifelong care

Obesity care should not feel confusing or rushed. At OHC, we guide patients through a structured pathway that helps them understand their options, prepare properly and receive long-term support. Not every patient follows the same pathway.

  1. 01 First enquiry

This is where the relationship starts

You contact OHC through the website, phone, WhatsApp or referral. We collect basic information so we can understand what kind of support you may need. You may be asking: do I qualify for treatment, is medication right for me, should I consider surgery, what will medical aid cover, what happens first, can I get help if I had surgery elsewhere?

  2. 02 Assessment

Understanding your health status, risks and options

Depending on your situation, assessment may include medical history, weight history, previous treatment attempts, current medication, obesity-related health conditions, blood tests, psychological readiness, nutrition assessment and — where relevant — surgical risk assessment. This phase helps us decide what is safe, appropriate and realistic.

  3. 03 Personalised care plan

Built around your health, not a generic programme

Your plan may include lifestyle and nutrition support, medical monitoring, weight-loss medication, bariatric surgery preparation, psychological support, movement and rehabilitation, and long-term follow-up.

  4. 04 Treatment

The plan that is right for you

For some patients, treatment may focus on medical care and medication. For others, bariatric surgery may be appropriate. Some patients may need preparation before surgery can be considered safely. Treatment is always supported by education and follow-up.

  5. 05 Recovery & adjustment

The weeks and months after surgery matter

You will need support with eating and drinking safely, protein and hydration, vitamins and supplements, wound and recovery guidance, physical activity, emotional adjustment, follow-up appointments and blood tests. This is a time of change — you do not need to manage it alone.

  6. 06 Long-term care

Obesity is chronic, and long-term support matters

OHC supports patients with annual or regular follow-ups, blood tests, vitamin and nutrition monitoring, weight regain support, emotional and behavioural support, movement and strength-building, ongoing patient education, and support groups and workshops. The goal is not only weight loss — the goal is better long-term health.

You do not need to choose a treatment before contacting us. Tell us where you are in the journey, and we will help you understand the next responsible step.
